I am turning forty this year, yes the big 40 and I am very scared. I am so scared that I decided to do something very unusual with my weight. I am going to take control and not let my metabolism take control of my waist, hips, butt and chin. Weight loss is a state of mind for many, but for me it's a religion. I am continuously reading, researching and learning how our body works. All these years of studying has paid off, because I know what to do. I have gained enough knowledge (plus it does not hurt that most of my family members are physicians) that I can keep that fat away.
For starters, weight loss is no magic. You need to realize that your body keeps the energy or reserves that it thinks it needs to survive. That is the fundamental rule. Now that we have that covered, these tips will make much more sense.
Tip #1: Eat More Frequently
If your body is storing calories, it's because it thinks it's starving. So let's not starve it. Eat frequently, every 1-2 hours. Of course, eat in moderation. You want to eat small portions even if you are not hungry. This will tell your body that "you don't need to store the fat; I am feeding you all time".
Tip #2: Exercise in Moderation
Exercising in the" ying" in the "ying and yang" weight loss balance. Exercising is required, not necessarily for losing weight, but for health reasons. You need to move the blood sugars and fat around and the only way it can move is when you move.
Tip #3: Don't Eat Pasta in the Evenings
I love pasta; I could eat it every day if my partner would let me. You can beat pasta in the morning, and lunch, but try to stay away from eating at night for super. I know this sounds strange, but pasta takes a long time to digest. It's fine to eat it during the day because you are moving and you have the rest of the day to digest the carbs in your system. But eating at night, just before going to bed and sleeping for 8-10 hours is not the best thing for losing weight. Your body knows it won't eat for that amount of time and guess what - stores the calories.
